Introduction:

Remembrance Day or Memorial Day primitively called Decoration Day is a day in the memory for those who had died in service of the United States of America and other Nations. Round about 24 cities and towns claim to be the place of birth of Remembrance Day. While Waterloo N.Y. was formally stated the place of birth of Memorial Day by President Lyndon Johnson in May 1966, it is ambitious to prove in a conclusive way the origins of the day.

Most of Americans notice Memorial Day by visiting graveyard or monument, comes with family and take participation in parades.The World War demanded more lives than any battle in U.S. history, needing the formation of the country’s first national graveyard. Most of Americans in many towns and cities had started holding spring time testimonial to those many soldiers who lost their lives, decorating their graves with flowers and reciting prayers for them.

Decoration Day

At the 1st Decoration Day, General James Garfield gave a speech at the Arlington National Cemetery, and about 5,000 people participate and decorated the graves of the 20,000 brave and Union military men buried there. The 1st city to formally accepted the holiday was New York in 1873. By 1890 it was agreed to by all of the northern states. The Southern refused to admit the day, honoring their lives sacrifice on separate days until the World War I. It is now accepted in almost all states on the last Monday in May with general assembly transition of the National Holiday Act of 1971. This act ensure three day weekend for Federal holidays, however some of the southern states also have separate day for tributing the Confederate war dead: 26th April in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi;19th January in Texas; 10th May in South Carolina; and 3rd June in Louisiana (Jefferson Davis’ birthday) and Tennessee.

On Remembrance Day in Canada persons of the armed forces (sailors, airmen, and soldiers) are celebrated. There is another simple title for this day is Armistice Day which tells us the time when armies stopped battle in World War I. On 11th November at Morning 11 am in 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). About 100,000 Canadian military men died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. 

Remembrance Day in Canada:

Remembrance Day in Canada is a national legal holiday, with a notable exception of NWT, NS, QC and ON as it is in many other countries where this day was determined as a national grade.
The Canadian flag billow on all government building this day and all nation remember those persons who fought and died for Canada. Most of peoples wear poppies on Remembrance Day to show their respect in their hearts and support for Canadian army. Poppies are usually handed out free but also voluntary donation is given.

Remembrance Day stimulate interest in retrieve the war and soldier’s sacrifices, inspiring thousands to ceremonies in many large and small cities across the country. It remind a day to honor the fallen, but conventional services also inform casual recalls to remember the r of war and to include peace. Remembrance Day ceremonies were generally held at war memorials and community cenotaphs, or sometimes at education institutes or at other public places. 2 min of silence, the recitation of In Flanders Fields, the playing of the Last Post, and the wearing of poppy flowers promptly became link up with the ceremony.

NOTE:The Canadian Parliament passed a Remembrance Day bill to notice ceremonies on the 1st Monday in the week of 11th November from 1921.

Remembrance day - veterans day - Armistice day - Memorial day 2016

Introduction:

Remembrance Day, Veterans Day, Armistice Day, or Memorial Day is the same day celebrating on the 11th November in the many Nations.

Remembrance means the ability to recall past occurrences.
Memorial means a recognition of meritorious service.
Armistice means a state of peace agreed to between opponents so they can discuss peace terms.
Veterans mean a person who has served in the armed forces.
As you read, I determined that these are the synonyms of each other. This day is also called a poppy day. Poppy is a flower.

Remembrance Day is an occasion in the memory of World War 1 soldiers. At the 11th November 1918, the World War 1 end. In World War 1, 9 million soldiers sacrificed their lives and 21 million soldiers injured.

Austria-Hungary, Germany, France, Russia, and Great Britain each country lost about a million or more lives. Besides it, at least 5 million civilians died from starvation, disease, or exposure. World War 1 is also known as the war that ends all wars because of the great massacre and destruction it caused.

Why does Remembrance Day celebrate?

11th hour on 11th month the Cannon of the Western front become silent after the more than 4 years. The united armies had driven the German encroacher back, having imposed heavy defeats upon them over the previous four months.
Germans called it Armistice Day. They agreed allied policies that amounted to unconditional surrender.
In 1919, on the 1st anniversary of the armistice 2 minutes' silence was established as part of the main memorialization ceremony at the new Cenotaph in London. The silence was suggest by Australian journalist Edward Honey, who worked in Fleet Street.
In 1920, on the 2nd anniversary of the armistice the commemoration was given added importance when it became a ceremony.

Note:

After the Second World War, the British and Australian governments altered the name to Remembrance Day. Armistice Day was not a proper name for a day which would commemorate all war dead.
